PainKiller© is an iconic beer inspired by Max Kuroda, a Columbia University PhD, epidemiologist and scientist extraordinaire. Max joined Dr Blues’ research team in Belgium in 2016. She quickly fell in love with Belgian beers, and claims that the Belgian beer brought instant pain relief to her knees, aching from osteoarthritis. Max rationalizes that a nightly glass of PainKiller© acts like an analgesic. This hypothesis that was proven by the 2017 publication of Drs. Thompson and collaborators in the Journal of Pain. PainKiller©, the formula for an authentic, full bodied Belgian dark beer, is brewed with the very finest grains and water from Flanders and dedicated to Max. Great combination with grilled meals, roast-beef, ham or rich cheeses.
Appearance: Dark brown color, nice thick head of foam with good retention and medium carbonation.
Aroma: Pleasant malty nose, caramel with brown bread characters. Very pleasant warm characters in the background.
Taste & body: Big body, slightly warming mouthfeel, liquorice, apricot and plum characters, low bitterness, medium-dry finish.
Technical quality: Great drinkability.

Refrigerate to 13-15ºC. Rinse DR BLUES glass to remove any grease or detergent. Decant PainKiller© by pouring it at a 45 degree angle alongside the glass wall to avoid excessive top foaming. As you reach near two thirds of the pour, keep the glass back straight up and lift the bottle up about 5-10 cm. Pour Then, pour the rest to form a rich, thick top. Just like a big red wine, it is best to wait a few minutes for PainKiller© to decant and release the flavors before drinking. Hold the glass by the stem to keep it cool or by the bowl to warm up, depending on your temperature preference. PainKiller© is one of the most complex beers and we love to preserve that complexity while drinking by avoiding drinking it too soon or too cold. The in-glass etching of DR BLUES provides vivaciousness to the beer by releasing carbon dioxide (bubbles) from the glass bottom. One a day, makes all pain go away. Cheers!
Pour a bottle of PainKiller© and one of your other favorite dark beers into separate glasses and taste them one after the other every 5 minutes for the next 30 minutes or so. Take your time and focus on how they compare to each other. As time passes, beers often lose taste, become dull or even undrinkable as they warm up. PainKiller© doesn't! All DR BLUES beers taste rich until the last sip.
